My family moved from Peoria, Illinois to Oakland, California when I was 12. My new teacher gave me the class video camera to document our field trip to Olympic National Park. It was on VHS. I made a documentary called "City Boyz No More." That was the beginning of a life thrust into new settings behind the camera. Now, I explore the realms of narrative, documentary, and experimental cinema in a quest to tell stories that reveal hidden truths, and to capture the poetry of life in motion.
My cinematic repertoire includes globally screened works such as the feature-length documentary, "No Time to Waste," and the short film, "A Mi Matria," which have showcased at festivals from Mill Valley to Cannes.
